"Can somebody tell me what Christmas is all about?" Linus rushes to Charlie Brown's rescue in that classic special.
He takes center stage to quote the Bible's account of Jesus' birth. And as he starts talking about Jesus, he drops his security - his blanket.
I guess there's a little Linus in all of us. We all have our security blanket. Our success, our family, that relationship. But ultimately it's not enough. We need something, someone that won't disappoint us, desert us, die on us. Something eternal.
That's why Jesus came. We're created for God. But we're living our life our way - away from Him. Facing sin's death penalty. But the Bible says, "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). So when Jesus comes knocking on the door of your life, it's time to drop that blanket that never was security and pin all your hopes on Him.
