Our Christmas tree is like a family scrapbook with branches. So many memories! Ornaments my wife and the kids made and from all over the continent, precious memories.
Of course, not all memories are precious. Like I've never seen a regret tree... the things we wish we hadn't done, the things we wish we had. The angry times and hurtful times, broken relationships and broken hearts.
But Christmas offers hope for our regrets and all the messy stuff of our lives. It's like the Christmas angel said, "to you is born this day, a savior" (Luke 2:11). The angel said He will save His people from their sins.
See, our sins, doing stuff our way instead of God's way, mess up everything. Including our eternal future. But the hope of Christmas is a tree - the cross, where Jesus paid for our sins so that we could be forgiven.
