Episode Summary
Doug, Brad, and Jesse discuss how entertainment can become a major blind spot for Christian families and why parents need to be intentional about what shapes their children’s hearts and minds. Using Proverbs 4:23 as a foundation, they encourage parents to research media, use biblical wisdom rather than ratings alone, and explain the reasons behind entertainment boundaries. They also emphasize replacing a “no” with something positive when possible and using difficult media decisions as teachable moments instead of simply imposing rules. The conversation stresses compassion, consistency, and helping children learn to make wise choices for themselves as they grow older. Ultimately, the episode encourages parents to guard their children’s hearts while modeling the same standards in their own entertainment choices.
Frequently Asked Questions
How can Christian parents decide what movies or shows are appropriate for their children?
Do more than rely on ratings. Research the actual content, pray for wisdom, compare what is being presented with Scripture, and consider how it may influence your child’s heart and thinking.
How should parents explain why they are saying no to certain entertainment?
Be compassionate and clear rather than simply announcing a rule. Explain what concerns you, connect the decision to biblical principles, remind your children that you love them, and use the conversation to help them learn how to make their own wise choices in the future.
What should parents do if they realize they made the wrong entertainment choice?
Use it as a teachable moment. Parents can admit they made a mistake, explain why they now see the situation differently, and model humility by adjusting the family’s choices rather than pretending they always get everything right.

Welcome to summer. Whatever this time of year means for you and your family, for a lot of us it means summer movies. Doug and Brad talk through how to approach the season and how to navigate through the endless entertainment possibilities you're bound to face.
Brad brings up some helpful websites that are listed in the show notes. Ready? Let's go, man!
Brad:
Welcome everyone to another episode of Go Mad with Doug and Brad. We're all here together again with you and welcome to summertime. It is officially summer where we're at as it is a Feels like temp of like 105 today. That is so we're we've hit summer pretty well.
Doug:
I've I've got one of those uh cars where You uh you're like, oh my word, it's it's 7 a. m. and it's already 97. Please air conditioning start working. But it takes like driving it for a while to for it to work. So like by the time I get to where I'm going ten minutes later, it's finally getting cold. Oh great.
Brad:
My AC is fantastic because it's got the uh uh it something's in the fan. And so I mean it could be paper, it could be a rodent. I'm not sure.
But there's a there's something that is the loud the higher you need to turn up the fan, it's just like starts like and then by the time it's like This our other car, we have a uh another car and it's in the shop, and so we're using this as our family car. My kids love it. They just love when we're like Keds, can you hear can you hear me right now?
We're blasting the AC.
Doug:
So anyway. I'm getting this mental picture. I hope if it's a rodent, it's dead. Why not? So I'm getting this mental picture of a squirrel like
Brad:
Running as fast as it can, like the higher you put it on, the faster it's running.
Doug:
I don't know why.
Brad:
Where I mentioned the rodent and We actually in a little bit we're gonna be talking a little bit about the house of mouse along with other things. So we know we're all about uh I guess rodents today. That is a segue I've never heard one.
You know that is we're going to be talking today. There's a lot of stuff that's going on out there in the culture and all of that. We want to try to give some practical ways to respond to some big pop culture things coming up this summer.
You might be heading to the beach You might be heading out on vacation, but one thing that almost everyone looks forward to is the summer movie season. It's like what blockbusters and everything. And we're going to dive into that a little bit because there are some key things.
we hope will help you as we navigate these next few weeks here.
Doug:
We love talking about on this podcast. How can we be Christ's ambassadors in this world? And It's harder than ever, I think, but it's very doable, but it takes intentionality.
Man, when you're talking about Entertainment and especially our kids, but us too. Um, there is a lot to talk about there. We're gonna keep it keep it pretty focused today to to kids, but what we're talking about really applies to all believers.
So how can we be Christ's ambassador to our kids in a world with so many things, vying for their attention, especially in media and entertainment, man? I I am sure that entertainment, and I'm going to include myself here, is such a huge blind spot for believers. We got this car.
Got this expedition and this Ford Expedition. It's a big car. It's awesome.
Brad:
But man, it's great on gas mileage.
Doug:
Yeah, especially we're curled at $94 per gallon right now I don't yeah. Uh so so uh you know, when we drive this thing on the highway special, we've got to be careful because there is a huge blind spot in this thing. I mean, I look sixteen times before I change uh uh lanes.
And and because you could be in total danger with the blind spot with this thing. To be car coming right up on you and not realize the danger that you're in. And and I I feel like that's such the story of entertainment and believers that there's junk that we're pouring into our hearts.
and our minds and and even allowing it being poured into our kids' hearts and minds. And it can be dangerous, as the Bible says, you know, about guarding our hearts. And So we'll talk a little bit about the blind spot, but also what we can do in a world where it's tough to navigate these things to help our kids make great choices and us too.
Brad:
Yeah, and you know, we didn't talk about this, uh what I'm gonna mention here uh beforehand, but um uh Doug, you and I have seen, and I'm sure Jesse's seen this too, that We work with young people. And when you talk about a lot of things to young people, you know, they'll listen and it's like, okay, I know I need to make these changes. When you get to entertainment, Because it is a blind spot and because people are so passionate about what they like to do for fun, man, people can get upset really fast.
And what I want to do, we usually stop. My show. Don't bring up my band.
Yep. And normally we stop and pray at the end of an episode. I want to stop and pray right now at the beginning because we know that a lot of times, even for myself, that Entertainment decisions, it's like you dig in your heels some.
And we're going to talk about a couple things here today that maybe you've thought of and you're kind of uh uh angry about, maybe you haven't thought of and you're gonna get a a little upset because of what we might mention, but we really want to keep this general helps to help you Help your family and help your kids be ambassadors to your own children. So can I stop and pray real quick? Heavenly Father, I I just thank you for being with us this uh time around, Lord, and we know that Um, our choices in life, whether it is the entertainment, the things we're watching, the things we listen to, the stuff we do, that uh it matters to you.
And we pray, Lord, that as we talk about something that can be really personal to to everyone that's listening. Lord, we just pray that you would help guide our conversation when you open all our hearts, open Jesse's and Doug's and mine first and foremost to be able to uh hear from you and share uh practical ways to to help people Lord and that with those listening Lord just be able to put aside any preconceived notions or or things that they're thinking one way or another, and that they would just be able to hear from you and walk away from this encouraged. And strengthen, Lord.
That's what we want to be about and more equipped to go mad. And we just pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
Doug:
Amen. So I've got a 16-year-old and 10-year-old son, 19-year-old daughter. And with our with the uh my sons, we sometimes do something called just the dudes.
So like we'll go out and do some mini golf or something like that. So we've started uh just the dude's power verse. So every week we will memorize a verse together.
Wow. And um and it's funny because we'll do motions with it and everything and they'll shout it at the top of their lungs and I try And so our very first one was Proverbs 4. 23, above all else.
Now when I hear it the word of God. When I hear God saying, above all else, I'm going, this is God clearing his throat. Yeah.
He's going, I've got something to say or make sure you're listening. Above all else, guard your heart. Why?
Because it is the wellspring of everything in your life. Everything you do in your life flows. from your heart.
You gotta guard that thing.
Brad:
Uh so if that's dirty, while we're drinking water, if that's dirty, it affects everything. It's such a great verse to start with.
Doug:
It'll pollute everything. And and uh so You know, when I'm a kid, I don't realize this, but my dad does. So, you know, I'm uh I'm desperate.
I'm like 12 years old. It's like night, I think it's yeah, it's 1984. I want to see Rambo so bad.
If you don't remember Rambo, I mean Sylvester Stallone, just the coolest guy, all the muscles running around. He's he's the man Different than Rocky. It was a little more, you know.
He can there can be 4,000 machine guns fired at his head. It's all gonna miss him. And he's gonna throw one knife and kill forty people at once.
But I wanted to see it. And and so my dad, I kept asking, he said, no, no, no. So finally this is what he does. He goes, I tell you what, son, we're outside mowing the lawn.
I remember this very clearly. He says, he looks me in the eye, he says, Doug, I want you to know I love you. And I trust you.
Oh, oh, I mean. Whatever decision you make, I'm gonna leave it up to you. But I trust you, son.
And I was like my lip is quivering. I don't want to see rabble anymore. Laughing, manipulative maybe, but not so bad that I didn't try it with my own kids and it totally works.
But man, we've we've got a generation of Christian parents wondering This same thing. How do I deal with this? What's okay for my kids to watch?
How much is going to influence them? And guess what? The question renewed once again.
With this time it's Buzz Lightyear and there's a there's a you know movie about the the uh Toy Story hero there and apparently there's a same-sex relationship in the movie that they've decided to put in there It's a kid it's a kid's movie, but they've decided to put something very adult in it.
Brad:
Some intimacy there too that I've got to do.
Doug:
Yeah, it's not just a suggestion. They show some intimacy in there and so that's a whole nother level
Brad:
Which is so frustrating because if you're like me as a parent, you know, I have a 16 and a 13 and an 11-year-old, and you're like, summer movies, usually there's at least half of them. I'm like, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. Okay, we can't go see that as a family Months ago, light year is on our radar and we're just like, hey, yeah, great, we can do this.
And then really, uh now this is in response. Disney did this really in response to a lot of Pressure from internal uh staff and everything else. Basically they didn't have this in there.
They had chosen to not put this in there and then they put it back in. And so, you know, it was just so disappointing because I'm just like, but it was the one like I was like, we could just go mindless and enjoy this as a family without having to worry about the things we have to talk about.
Doug:
And so you do you just throw your hands up and go, you know what?
Brad:
It's just a little thing. No, that's not sorry. Exactly.
Doug:
Forget it. It's just a little thing, you know, no big dealer is it? I mean it it can be so challenging with so much of the culture polluted.
So what do we do? Do we adopt the boycott mentality? We say, well, listen, if if there's anything like that, I'm never gonna see another movie from that company.
I'm I'm uh for the rest of our lives, it's no I'm not going to look down on anybody's conviction. And if that's what the Lord tells you to do, okay. But man, it's hard to do that and be consistent.
You know that That saying only drink milk from a Christian cow. It's funny because I mean you look at Target, and Target's one of the uh top givers. to to planned parenthood.
Uh Pizza Hut has a you were telling me the other day Pizza Hut has a thing with with the for their kids. uh where they're promoting some of the same things the buzz lightyear thing is. Blues clues is doing it now Buzz Lightyear.
But so maybe you don't boycott everything. Maybe you do, but Even if you decide not to, it doesn't mean that you don't choose what dangers we protect our kids from in the culture, especially in entertainment.
Brad:
Yeah, when uh when we were talking about this together, uh i it's one of the first questions that came up was Should we even care at this point? Because we're being assaulted on every front. And it's like, okay, so if I have to start making those decisions, oh, then I'm not going to be able to see anything.
I'm not going to be able to do all this. But this goes beyond boycott. This isn't the we're not talking about the boycott mentality today.
And again, we each have to make our decisions based on our convictions, but we want to talk about ways that anyone listening today can respond and anyone can do this. Even if you say, I'm not going to boycott stuff. There are things you can do because the point is, yes, we should care at this point.
Man, the devil works overtime to try to get us to become numb to the sin that is around us. He wants us to be able to say Well, it just keeps repeating and repeating and repeating. So you just start tuning it out.
And the moment we tune out that noise of sin in our lives. Our children become at risk.
Doug:
Man, I was driving through uh Amarillo a few years ago, and if you've ever driven through Amarillo on I-40, you'll notice a about ten miles out. I know the place already, you'll notice quite a fragrant no aroma. There's a lot of cows there and a lot of stuff cows produce.
And there's Quite a smell and and we like roll down the windows, but that doesn't help you roll them up. It's trapped just like I can't do it. So we stopped at a loves at a gas station and I asked the lady there uh the cashier, I go, how do you deal with this smell?
It's just awful. And she goes, well well what smell? I said, don't you smell all that all that aroma out there?
And she's like, oh, I know what you're talking about. But she says, you know I guess we've just gotten used to it. I don't even smell it anymore.
And man, it it it sounds like uh entertainment in us these days where it's like There's there's all this garbage out there, but it there's so much of it. We're so used to it. We just kind of shrugged our shoulders and gone, well, it's it's there.
I just forget it's too hard to deal with, but man Young hearts are impressionable hearts. We know the millions of studies out there that show what happens during a person's childhood can affect their entire life. So what does it mean to be the guard of my child's heart because it's a huge impact on them?
Brad, you remember my son and the Cars movie? Oh man. Oh my goodness.
He wa I mean for ten years of his life, this was the only movie. He was likely McQueen for years. Good choice.
Good choice. Vader, I guess, but quoting him constantly, Lightning McQueen. That Lightning McQueen cereal for breakfast.
Son, there is no such thing, but the cornflakes red. Paint the cornflakes red. But what they watch becomes part of them.
And you know, we've all seen the parents bringing their four-year-olds to movies they shouldn't. I was in pri saving private Ryan You know, and that one's rated R for good reason. They're they're they they very uh graphically show what happens in war, but there was a four-year-old kid next to me, and I'm like, what are you bringing your child here for? But And so that one's easy, but it's not always so cut and dry.
It's so easy just to put the kids in front of the TV and let it be their babysitter. And, you know, And maybe what we think is innocent, but man, the stuff we used to watch isn't the same stuff uh that's being put out today. And but we're tired and And we're we just want some time to ourselves as parents and so we say, well just these cartoons or just just maybe this kids channel.
Well in summer, all the free time it's like, okay, what do I do?
Brad:
They're out of school. What do I it's hot out, we can't go out So all of a sudden you have that even more. And what I want to make sure we know here is that, you know, you may be listening, think, oh, this is about one company or another.
This is about how. Going back to how we respond as ambassadors to help guard our children. I will tell you this.
Doug, you just mentioned it, mentioned it different. than when we were growing up a quote from a employee of a well-known company, entertainment company, was sitting in a meeting recently, came out of that and said, They want to use the company to make an end run around parents through content creation and political pressure. They see it, this is the quote.
They see it as their mission to rescue the next generation from their conservative parents.
Doug:
Oh my goodness, I hadn't heard that. That's from an employee of this company.
Brad:
It is who's sitting in a a big meeting where there are activists in everything. And please, so parents listening to this. And maybe your kids are listening to this right now in the car with you even.
Just know that it is as important as ever to have your radar on and to be saying, I am going to help guard the wellspring first in your own heart. You've got to start with your own heart because we all make decisions along the way that aren't honoring to the Lord. But then you're going to guard that wellspring in your children's heart until they can make those decisions wisely on their own.
Oh man.
Doug:
So let's get into in just a moment here, we're gonna get into some uh practical steps. It's not a go mad with Doug and Brad without some practical steps of how to deal with this and be an ambassador this time to our kids. But Brad, you just brought up what's going on uh in the culture.
Um it's it's hard sometimes to look around and not think that we're living in kind of the new Babylon here where uh so much of The people in charge of things and everything, they they want nothing to do with God. And it makes you think of Daniel in a culture where he's surrounded by evil things. And yet he figures out a way to be in that culture, but not of the culture.
It's interesting because the Bible says that Daniel living in Babylon Was very uh he was very informed on the culture. He read everything, he was aware of what was going on, and he lived there. But when it came time for him to make a choice, and in this case, it was the ruler's people saying, Here is some food we want you to eat, and you're part of the king's table here, eat his food.
And it was food they were not allowed to eat as Israelites So Daniel goes, listen, I'm sorry, I can't have this. He takes a stand and could have gotten into a lot of trouble. And instead he says, I'm going to eat, I'm going to consume what God says is okay for me to consume.
Same thing for us as a believer. I'm going to consume what God says is okay to consume while figuring out what's being put in front of me that could pollute me or pollute our kids. So we're gonna take our stand and as we do that we're gonna talk a little bit too here about how not just to affect their behavior as a six-year-old and say, well, no, you're not allowed to watch this.
but also how to help win their heart so when they very soon will be making these choices themselves. Before I knew it, my daughter was 18 years old. She's making all these decisions on her own.
She's got her her own phone. She can watch whatever she wants. And very soon they're making their own decision.
And you hope, you pray that you have Help them understand along the way why we make these decisions to honor God, not as some legalistic thing, but a way to honor God so they will not pollute their hearts. as they are their own ambassadors for Christ.
Brad:
Jesse, as you're here in all of this, what hits you? Because you're a dad with young girls and you're having to navigate these same things. What hits your heart in all of this?
Jesse:
Yeah, there's a flip side too to this where whenever there's a something like this that comes up, it's actually an opportunity to help guide your kids in their own decision-making process. So with entertainment choices, we're not just choosing what not to watch, where helping them choose what is good to watch, what is good for their souls, what actually can encourage them, what actually can help them see the gospel help them to see goodness in what they choose to watch. So uh I I'd love to get better at this, but I try, if there's a movie that we we watch, picking out a character or a situation like, hey, who does that remind you of?
Does it How how did Jesus act like that person acted with sacrificial love or with giving up their time, giving up their freedom for someone else's good? That's for their joy, that's for their happiness. So when we pick and choose what we're going to watch, what we're not going to watch, it's not just staying away from what we shouldn't and what's okay.
We want to run to what's good and run away from what will draw us away from God. Whoa, is that good?
Brad:
That's speaking to me right now. Yeah, and it and it really helps that the stage to just kind of move into Some of these practical things because right there, that's a practical help right there of how we view this. What we want to make sure you're not hearing in this is we are not talking about being against people or a people group, there is a prince of the power of air, the prince of the power of the air waves in today's world.
And that is the devil. He's our enemy and he wants to infiltrate however he can. If your heart has been, I'm getting angry at people and I am going to lash out at them, and all of a sudden there is not the love of Christ being seen in you.
That is not these appro this approach here because that means we've got to do some in inside look to say, God, provide me with the right perspective. So please know in these responses, this is about what the enemy's doing out there, not about what an individual is doing or even a company is doing, because it goes deeper than that. And I'm gonna can't kick us off for the first one.
The the first one that's on my list of how a practical way that we can respond, man, our dad showed us this all the time in a day long before the internet. I mean, long uh before the internet, and and it was It was to do your research.
Doug:
Yeah.
Brad:
Dad would look at newspapers, everything else, and he would say, you know, I'm not going to let just my children watch anything and everything, even though all their friends are doing it, even though it's rated G, even I'm going to know what they're watching. He trusted us and he let us decide when the time was right. He didn't just say, well, as long as you're under my roof, you're going to never see this.
It was I want to set the grid for this. And in today's world, he explained it to us. He told us why.
That's exactly why. It's so true. And so if you are looking for some, you're like, how do I know Really simple.
And we'll we'll put these in our uh podcast listing as well, but it is pluggedin. com. Focus on the family.
Go there, look up the movie, look up the game, and you will see the spiritual, the good, the bad, the ugly in it. You'll see how many curse words are in it. Movieguide.
org is another. They will talk about the content in it from a Christian perspective and The other one would be check out Kids in Mind. Just Google Kids in Mind because it is, that's the first place I went when I was going to see a movie when I was like 25 years old.
Look this up and I saw how many curse words were in it. It was more F-bombs than there were minutes in the movie. And I was like, okay, not gonna see that.
So you get a big one.
Doug:
That was Mary Poppins. No No, they mixed it up on the website of the cut. The kids of mine, yeah, they do like an actual blow-by-blow.
I mean, they'll they'll tell you exactly what's in there. So there's no excuse. You can do your research in today's world.
And look, a lot of these things take some time, but these are our kids we're talking about. It's worth the time. That's a great one, Brad.
Do your research. Uh I remember I've got one for you ready. And I'm going back to her dear old awesome mom on this.
She would say, Doug, don't always trust the ratings. She said sometimes rated G, the G can stand for garbage. Oh my god.
And the PG can stand for pure garbage. I was like, oh my goodness. It's so true.
So because there can even if there's not a lot of swear words, there could be some ideas in there that are really sketchy.
Brad:
So you're saying we should, as we're doing our research, use wisdom and good judgment. That is not just, hey, G means good. But I like that that we need to use wisdom and good judgment rooted in prayer and God's word, that you are using wisdom to say, this is okay for my children and this is not. Here's another one.
Doug:
If you're gonna say no to something, try to replace it with a yes. There are so many good alternatives out there, and it doesn't have to even be something that's labeled a Christian movie Uh maybe there's a movie you've seen in your past that your kids aren't aware of or a TV show and and you know that it has some wonderful things to talk about. Wonderful things to jump off of to talk about scripturally. So make a suggestion where you replace it with something rather than just taking something away.
Brad:
And it doesn't even have to be practically something that you else that you watch. Because there's parents right now where we're talking about we're losing this streaming service. I mean, there's so many out there.
And they're like, well, we're cutting off all these different streaming services. So if you're saving that money. .
Talk to your kids about, hey, kids, we're not going to have this anymore, but what could we do with this? Is there a Lego set that they really want? Not buying them off, but hey, a But saying, hey, is there a place you've wanted to go as a family that we could start saving for?
Things like that where you are starting to practically take steps.
Doug:
We're buying them off.
Brad:
Hey, look, a TCBY who wants ice cream, who wants some yogurt. I'm gonna say another one I'm gonna throw in the mix is be compassionate and clear with your family about decisions you make and why these are important. You need to have compassion when you're doing this, not just we're not seeing this, but you know what?
Hey, let's talk about this and let's uh explain what's going on. Because guess what? You may be like my child is too young to learn about such and such area of sin.
The rest of the world doesn't think so. Because if shows for children, which they are, are promoting certain lifestyles and sin choices and everything else, they're learning about it. But they're not learning about it from you and they're not learning about what God has to say about it.
Let's take Buzz Light here as an example.
Doug:
This is not easy. But like Brad said, we're being compassionate and we are not slamming people while we're doing this. This is a great example, a time to sit down with your children.
A lot of it some of it does depend on their age and what they're what you believe they're capable of hearing about, but they're gonna hear about it sooner than you think. Like Brad said. You say, you know, in Buzz Lightyear, there there are some things that God says are not his best for us.
And maybe you start to describe a little bit about sexuality and how God says there are choices that we can make that are not pleasing to him. And so we are going to avoid this and not see this right now. And maybe at the same time.
You talk about how a lot of Christians have said angry and mean things towards people that are in those kinds of relationships. People who are not believers, they're not acting like believers. If they're not believers, we shouldn't expect them to be acting like believers, and we act towards them as Jesus did.
with with compassion and with love. We don't ignore. We don't ignore that it's something sinful.
Brad:
And we don't approve.
Doug:
And we don't we don't approve of it. But but it's a great time to say this is something that is not God's best. But we still love this person. Buzz Lightyear is a great time to start doing this with your kids.
Brad:
And so if you're gonna do that, that's so good. The next step I would bring up is to be consistent because a lot of times looking at boycotts, people say I'm going to boycott this company. Make sure you look at everything that company owns and everything else because some of these companies own half the world.
And you need to make sure you do that. But also because your kids will notice. Your kids kids eventually will go, well, they cared about this, but not about this.
And we boycott them for three months, but now we're back to this. And it and I would say be consistent in your entertainment choices too. If you're going to tell them don't watch certain things because of this, make sure you're using the same grid.
for how you may I'm not saying you're watching the exact same things as your children, but you are using the exact same grid to say, you know what? What if my child walked in right now? And saw what was going on on the screen, did I just send a different message to them than everything I've been telling them?
Or on the streaming platforms, man?
Doug:
You can always look and see what's been watched. I mean it it's amazing. Your kids will know what you're watching, so hopefully you're being consistent with them.
Jesse:
I think it's easy to to feel really overwhelmed with the amount of possibilities that you and your kids have to watch and to listen to and to feel like I'm I know I'm failing. I know I'm not being on guard as I should be. The good news is if we either make a mistake with what we watch or what we let our kids watch We are given an opportunity to talk with our kids.
Either to say, hey, I messed up with this. I think we shouldn't watch this because of this. That opens up an opportunity to talk with them about something really important.
Or even if you have to say a difficult no, you're still given an opportunity to talk with them about something really important that maybe you wouldn't have thought to talk with them about otherwise.
Brad:
And Jesse, that would be the other that so gets to the heart of the last thing that I just wanted to share was you've got to be willing to have the narrow road discussions and decisions. You've got to be willing to say because what I'm going to tell you is that I love that. The difficult no It totally is because I'll tell you, there is a look of disappointment on your children's faces, and there's not going to be complete agreement all the time on yes, we should or shouldn't see this.
You can't expect that from your young children. You can't expect that. But if you will nurture these decisions and you will Base them in the Word of God, not just the world's opinion or your opinion, but what the Word of God says.
Jesse, I love what you said. It is teachable moments and it's way areas we can say. Hey, I was wrong in something and we need to adjust this and here's why.
So when you do that with compassion and consistency and you're willing to make these hard decisions, you can start to protect that wellspring more and more, Doug.
Doug:
Wow, uh that's boy, that's so good. You know what pops in my head? Start Each of these discussions with three words.
I love you. I love you. This is why I'm telling you this.
This is why we're doing this. I love you. I want what's best for you.
Making that narrow road decision, um, I just want to encourage to wrap up here. All parents here, God is going to convict you of things. The Holy Spirit is going to make clear to you, especially as you ask him to, Lord, reset me in this.
Maybe I don't have the sensitivity that I should have. anymore. Reset me in this.
I want my kids to be full of the Holy Spirit and full of what's pure and and lovely and thinking about such things like the Bible says. And hey Don't expect even other Christians to understand the stand that you're taking. I want to wrap up by saying this.
Peter said in 1 Peter 4 2, he says that the culture is surprised when you do not join them. And they malign you, or they make fun of you for it. They are surprised when you do not join them and they malign you for it.
That might happen even with other Christians, other people in your family. Take your stand, stand your ground like Daniel did. Guard your heart.
Guard your children's heart. It's worth it. They're worth it.
So as you're making decisions this summer and beyond for yourself, for your kids, go make a difference by being an ambassador for them.
