A Light in the Night - Holy Living in a Hostile World

God’s plan for being ‘living lights’ in a world that’s gone dark? A people who know who they are, whose identity comes from the God who made them – and that defines how they live in “a hostile world.”

Who you believe you are is the lens through which you see all of your life experiences. - Our “lie-dentities” all come from outside.

God’s plan is not for us to find who we are in EXTRINSIC IDENTITY.

Many of these things may describe you. But they were never meant to define you. You

are who GOD says you are!

INTRINSIC IDENTITY. An inner guidance system for “a hostile world.”

BOLD CHOICE #2 – I WILL LIVE MY TRUE IDENTITY!

Three Steps to Living Your True Identity:

1. KNOW WHO YOU ARE Deuteronomy 7:2b-9

Holy (set apart). Chosen. Treasured. Loved. Rescued. Covenanted.

Burn every bridge to the darkness, because of who you are...and Whose you are!

Then choose like you’re His chosen! Deuteronomy 10:12-17

2. SHOW WHO YOU ARE

• Avoid contamination.

Live like you belong to Yahweh Elohim!

Reminder:

“The Lord” - “Yahweh” The God of personal relationship

“My God” - “Elohim” The Supreme One. The mighty God of gods.

He gives us the strength to live pure.

• Live to bring Him glory. Deuteronomy 10:1, 11

He gives us irrefutable evidence that the victories are from Him.

• Focus on the broken. Deuteronomy 15:7-8, 11; 14:28-29; 24:19 They are God’s VIP’s.

He gives us eyes to see others the way He sees them.

• Steward His blessings. Deuteronomy 16:10, 15, 17

Giving living!

He faithfully gives His provision so we can partner in what He is doing.

3. TELL WHO YOU ARE Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Psalm 107:2

• Declare Whose you are to those around you

o Start at home Mark 5:18-20

o Ask for forgiveness where needed

o Speak in a way that is seasoned with salt and light. 1 Peter 3:16

• Tell His story. Deuteronomy 2:7

Deuteronomy 6:21 - What we were – until He brought us out 1 Peter 2:9, 10 – What we are...because of Jesus Deuteronomy 5:5 - Standing between them and Him!

If you fail to be who God made you to be, the light goes out...and it’s totally dark.

We can live our true identity boldly in the darkness because we have . . . His Strength!
