Brad begins with the picture of a vehicle connected to the wrong power supply and uses it to explain how Christians can live below the power God has already made available to them. He walks through five major challenges—fear, hardship, heavy burdens, loneliness, and situations where a good ending seems impossible—and shows how God’s dunamis power changes the equation in each one. Brad emphasizes that believers do not need to manufacture more strength but learn to receive, apply, and walk in the power God has already promised. Through personal stories, Paul’s suffering, and examples from On Eagles’ Wings, he shows how God can use hard seasons as “credentials” that equip us to help others. He closes by calling believers to be “dunamized”—strengthened by grace, trusting that our weakness becomes the place where Christ’s power is displayed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does God’s power help Christians deal with fear?
Brad says God’s power allows us to stand firm rather than freeze, flee, or be ruled by anxiety. Through power, love, and a sound mind, we can face frightening situations with the confidence that God is present and able to carry us through.
How can Christians prepare spiritually before hard times come?
Brad encourages believers to meet with Jesus daily, talk with Him regularly, journal what He is teaching them, and build relationships with trusted “arm holders” who will walk with them when life gets difficult. Spiritual readiness is built before the storm arrives.
How can God use painful experiences for something good?
Brad says hard seasons can become spiritual “credentials”—experiences God uses to deepen us and equip us to speak with credibility and compassion to people facing similar struggles. What we have lived through can become part of how God reaches someone else.
What does it mean to trust God when someone you love is far from Him?
Brad says one of the hardest forms of surrender is attaching a name to the burden. Trust means believing that God is able to guard and work in the life of that person, while we release our need to control the outcome and rest in His ability rather than our own.

I really don't know why I'm admitting this because it doesn't put me in the best light. But I we were um looking at we need to replace our alternator on our minivan and uh So I was like, hey, maybe Wes. Wes knows vehicles.
And I'm like, would you be able to help us replace this? And he said, sure. So Wes came by.
I I went, did the research, ordered off eBay motors, matched up vehicles, all that. And uh so we get it, and West comes and installs it for us. That saves some money.
If you ever replaced an alternator, it saves some money. If you got the right alternator. Um and uh so I'm we we drove it for a while.
I mean it was running, it was fine Um the warning lights still kept coming on and we're like so we would take it in, get the codes checked and everything else, and It was like, well, the the mechanics, we can't find anything. It might just be kind of a little glitch or something. And we told him, yeah, we just replaced the alternator.
So then Sarah goes and picks up our daughter from college in Nashville uh a few months ago and calls me on the way back and said, Well, we got about a half hour outside and now we're stranded on the side of the road. So she takes it to a local shop. Guy was like, it is the alternator, goes to replace it and he he orders it for the Honda that we have.
And he's like, I went to replace it. I'm like, did I get the wrong one? Uh because it was different than the one that had been put on there.
And he confirmed he was right, I was wrong. Go figure. But I learned a valuable lesson that things don't work so well when you're when you have the wrong power supply.
And that's what we're going to be talking about this morning because that's what Paul talked about. Paul makes clear that we do not have to live powerless lives. And I am so grateful for that because we're going to look today at some very specific ways, even through some of the things that have been talked about already this week, we can apply this power into our lives.
Paul talks about dunamis power. The word he used for power, we did a uh Warrior Leadership Summit theme back I think in 2012 called Dunamis. And it was power unleashed.
It was one of our most popular themes because it was so practical. It was so real and relevant of how do we apply this power in our lives. So what is dunamis power?
That's the word for power that Paul uses. It's where we get our word dynamite. And Dunimus is used around 75 times in the New Testament to describe the supernatural power and working of God.
Jesus or the Holy Spirit. Paul is talking about that very source of power. And because of the source of the power, we know that it is unlimited.
And unfailing power. Praise God for that. And because of God's promises, even those we see in 2 Timothy, we know that power is available to us.
Wow. I mean, the more I was preparing for this, I just kept coming back to that. I'm just like, how does that how?
I mean, I have no right to have access to that power, but God says. I will give you that strength, that power is available to you. And Paul talks about it to Timothy, that that power is what will carry.
you through so we'll just start with the fourth accelerant of empowered faith for these unprecedented times. Dunamis is the high octane fuel for a life of world-changing boldness. It's a high octane fuel for a life of world-changing boldness.
It gives us the power to do what we can't possibly do, and it changes every equation in every situation. Do we always apply it? No, I actually have found myself in the last few years as I've been praying.
You know, I I've prayed so many times in my life. Lord, give me the strength too. Give me the power too.
And God so often recently has been reminding me, I do. I've done that. And I'm like, Lord.
Okay, so change my prayer. Help me download. Help me apply the strength and the power you give.
Because he promises it to us. We sometimes just connect to the wrong power supply. And we have that power outage in our life.
So we're going to prove the thesis here. We're going to prove the thesis of what Paul talks about that This dunamis power can be life-changing. And the way we're going to do this is we're going to look at five key challenges we face and the difference that Dunamis makes.
Five challenges we face and the difference Dunamis makes. The first challenge uh my dad talked about on night one when fear is keeping you from what God wants to do. I'm going to talk briefly about fear here.
2 Timothy 1. 7. For God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love.
And self-control. There's rational reasons for fear. I want to be clear.
I think that there's sometimes where fear is like the right response. For instance , My mom, she no, I wasn't afraid of my mom, uh except with a wooden spoon, but that's another story. Uh the my mom, we Mother's Day, we would go on mom 's mystery drive And I mean she's just telling, Ron, turn left, turn right, turn left.
We're wandering down country roads and three young kids so excited in the backseat. Um And we're like, okay, so where's mom taking us? We're seeing trees, sometimes the colors in the fall.
And all of a sudden, on one of these mystery drives, the roads started getting a little rough. Because it was railroad tracks. And somehow we had turned on to what dad claims were not used anymore, but uh we turned onto these railroad tracks I was afraid, all right, and uh and I think that fear was rational uh at that point.
But there's other things that many other times it's manufactured fear by us, by the anxiety we let into our lives Over the unknown, the what-ifs, are the resources there, uh people in our lives that cause just fear in our lives, sometimes because of really awful things that they've done And we have this fear in our lives of some people, or an unknown road. And when I say unknown road, I will guarantee that it doesn't take anyone in this room very long to think of. an unknown road in your life that God has asked you to walk, to drive down, and you're not sure exactly where that leads.
And there's some fear there. Saban actually was sharing in uh our uh um Leadership Center Chapel recently and I love what he said because they talk about the fear responses fight or flight a lot of times. And he in his study, he was like, it's actually flight or fight, but there's flight, freeze.
You could flee, but you could also just freeze. You could fawn and fall back from that, or you could fight in faith. And that's the biblical response to be able to fight in faith against fear.
But even for the seasoned follower of Christ, that can be really tough sometimes. I had faced fear. I I had to face this big time one summer with OEW for Many years for those of you who know Sarah's and my story, which I will not share this morning.
Uh it's uh took us about nine and a half years to figure things out. And uh then we got married. And um We uh well that's for another time.
Get lunch with us. Uh but we realized that uh for those nine and a half years, especially the first few years I went to the Hopi Reservation, God wanted me single And I had faced some fear while being single. The weird noises in the night.
There was a young man who, uh young Hopi man, who stood in my trailer and said, I've got a gun and I could kill you right now. And the only response I had was, if God allows it, I mean, I'm like, I can't fight back against that. Good news he didn't. But it was, I realized that being single was a different story.
Being single and facing fear, it's just like, first of all, guys aren't that bright. Uh, and so I'm just like, yeah, but then Our first summer married, our first summer with Carissa, she's like three months old. Our first summer in an RV And she's sleeping next to the bed, and in the middle of the night, we're in a pretty rugged place, very closed to the gospel And we start hearing at about 2 a. m. just these hard things pelting against RRV.
It sounds like rocks, and we're just like, what is going on? And then we hear some noises. We hear a gunshot just down the street.
And then we see this kind of tip me over. We see the shadow of someone's head walk by our bedroom window. I didn't respond well in that moment.
I was fearful. I was looking at all the human reactions that you would think of Uh do I call the police? What do we do?
Do I just get and pull up stakes and get out of here? What do we do about this? Do I fight back?
And Praise God that uh mom and dad were in an RV next to us because I called them and I I was just like, I I think I need to call the police and We came up with a different solution. Someone was able to be out there the rest of the night and kind of keep an eye on things. But it was a reminder to me that the same God who had protected me when I was single Was certainly gonna protect me and my family.
But I had to get past that fear. It's actually funny because a few years ago Sarah said, Well, you know, now that our kids don't need a baby monitor, do you want me to like, should we set that up so we can like in the middle of the night? I see if there's a noise.
And I'm like, I don't want to know. I'm like, if there's a noise, I'm just trusting God at this point. I'm like, I don't want to know who's out there or what they're doing.
So we do not do that. Um So we are grateful for the way God has protected us, but it's through his power because the dunamous difference is I can stand firm in power. Knowing I am safe, I can stand firm in love that first loved me.
And I can stand firm in self-control that comes from a calm, sound mind. Let's face it, right there Paul is painting for us the picture of the difference between fear. and dunamis power that calm, sound mind.
Because when we get in a fear situation, that is not our first reaction. uh to be calm and have that sound mind. So I'm grateful for the dunamis difference.
The second challenge that you see in this, and and Paul talks about this, is when life gets hard. Or sometimes, as Sarah and I will just say, when life be lifing, when life gets hard, it can present some pretty big challenges. 2 Timothy 1.
8. Says, therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner. He's in prison, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God.
Sometimes you read those verses and you're like Mmm, can we trim that verse? Can we trim a few words? Share in the suffering.
That's not what this world's about, is it? That's not the message you even get in not I'm not even saying majority, but in a lot of churches you don't get that message of the not a very popular sermon series. Share in the suffering.
That is not what a lot of people lean into, but that is what we are called to do sometimes when life gets hard. Plans that unexpectedly shatter into pieces, and they shatter into pieces. They really do.
We've seen that over and over again. Medical news, a lost job, a financial crisis. When life gets hard.
We live in tornado country, if you didn't know. Don't worry, we're okay right now. It's sunny out.
But we live in tornado country, and so our local news Uh our local weathermen are very good about the tornado emergency preparedness plan. And they will go through it, they'll put it up on the screen, and I'm just like, do we not know this by now? But every time they are like You know, if you have this kind of house, go here.
If you have a basement, go here. That is uh it's important information that they are sharing with us. They get into this personal tone, but it is also a very serious tone.
You can tell they care about those that they're talking with, saying, be ready. God wants us to have an emergency preparedness plan. Because when we do, we get the dunamis difference.
I can be ready to face the storms before they ever hit. You know, I mean I've been in the situation, I'm sure it's been true for many of you, where you haven't been as close as you need to be with Jesus. You've been, life has been good.
And sometimes I was talking at a meal just this week with someone that was sharing about this as well, but sometimes when life is good, we kind of drift. I mean the the drift sometimes happens as Doug was saying, even in those good seasons, because it's like I'm fine. All right, I got this.
And then the storm hits and we're like, what do I do? But when we are regularly with Jesus, we are able to have this emergency preparedness plan, so we're ready. 2 Timothy 4.
2. Preach the word. Be ready in season and out of season, reprove, re rebuke, and exhort with complete patience and teaching.
Which, by the way, work in youth ministry all these years, that complete patience part, that's important uh to have in there. Um But the key words there are be ready. That key phrase, be ready.
Paul stresses it to Timothy. The Lord stresses it to us. Be ready.
As we heard one person say when mom went to be with the Lord 10 years ago, the loss of someone you love is the final exam you can't cram for. But the loss of a loved one isn't the only hard test. It's not the only thing that we find ourselves in that, man, I can't I couldn't cram for this situation.
We're supposed to be ready. So I'm gonna give you some very some of these are just like I've heard this many times. But I often need the reminder.
So these are simple steps to be ready. Just jot these down real quick. Simple steps to be ready.
Meet with Jesus daily. Meet with Jesus daily. That is a very simple step you can take to be ready.
Talk to him often, not just when there's a problem. Talk to him often. Journal what he is saying to you.
And right now, just a quick word to the dudes in the room. You want me to write my feelings? Yes.
All right. When God is speaking to you, write it down. I have learned that from my dad.
And for many years, it was just like I'd write here and there, and I have like so many journals where it's like, me 2012. And then the next century is like June 2014. And it's just like not the consistency.
And then several years ago, I was just like, I've got to do this every day, even if it's just a few words. Of what God has been showing me. And honestly, it even shows up to be an accountability thing between me and God.
Because I'm like, when I look back and I've missed a day, I'm just like, man, why did I miss that day? And when we journal, we get to look back at what God has been saying to us so that when we enter whatever season, we can be like, wait, I know that God talked to me about this. And I can go look at what he had to say.
And the other one I just put down, and uh I know I don't think we have these on the screen, but is Know Your Arm Holders. Know your arm holders. This is talking about Moses when they were holding up his arms, and when they were holding those up, there was victory, there was success.
We need a small group of people We can turn to in the hard time who will help us through the hard times. That may be just that a very small group of people. Prayerfully, if you're married, your spouse is number one on that list.
But we need a couple people who we can say, I'm going through, because we all know there's some people you talk to and you're like, I'm going through a really tough time. And their responses , yeah, me too. It's like okay, I thought we were talking about me, but uh and you're like I need someone sometimes and I get that people going through tough times, but sometimes you need that person or just a couple people who when you say I'm going through a tough time The hand is on your shoulder, the arms around you, they're sitting with you, and they're just being there.
They're listening. They're walking through that time with you. And then the last thing here is know the reason, which is the good news.
Because that's what Paul is talking about. In 4-2, the good news, let's look back at uh 2 Timothy 4-2 there. Preach the word.
That's what this is under. Preach the word. Be ready in season and out of season.
So Paul is saying. Be ready. So when we go through the hard times, we should be ready to be able to allow the Lord to work in those hard times to make us ready to help others go through hard times.
And to make us more like Jesus. Let Jesus use your, as phrase I love, you probably noticed my dad makes up words sometimes. I credentials.
Not your credentials, your credentials. The crud we have gone through, allow Jesus to use your credentials to share the good news with others I want to take a quick look at a young man who has done that. You won't see the full gospel presentation, but for those of you who have met Micah, he has got credentials in his life This young man has been through a lot.
He chose Jesus. He came with the OEW team. He uh was at the Leadership Center.
He's served there. He's led there. And then this summer he got to share the gospel on the closing night of Warrior Leadership Summit.
Listen to just a little bit of how Much he speaks with the authority of the Word of God because he knows God has made him for something beyond the hard times.
There's this thing called sin. Right, you've heard it this week. And you know the middle letter in there, I, is us choosing our own way.
Maybe tonight you've been choosing your own way, you haven't been giving it to God. And sin, what it does, is it separates us from God. But God sent his son, Jesus, perfect man who walked this earth.
To go to the cross and die a death that we honestly deserved. But he took that upon himself for us. So we didn't have to go through that.
So tonight I know there's someone here who's on the fence, like I said, who wants to give their life to Jesus. Maybe you're scared, maybe you're scared what your friends are gonna think I'm gonna let you know right now, no matter what, your life is always better with Jesus. This hope team is a testament to that all of them have stories and they've all chosen Jesus And tonight we want to give you that opportunity one last time before camp ends to choose Jesus.
A love that will never fail you. A love that will never let you down. A love that will fill that void that you have in your heart that you've been trying to fill.
Are you gonna make that choice tonight to follow Jesus? I don't want you to leave here without him because I know what he's done for me. I know how much he's changed my life.
And he wants to do the same for you.
You see there and you hear in his voice that Micah is not someone that's reading from notes, he's not rehearsing something, reciting something he's learned, he's sharing something he's lived. He's sharing from a heart that has gone through the hard. And he's able to say with total confidence and 100% assureness That God loves them.
That this relationship is one that they should choose. It's the same story over and over again for the warriors of On Eagle's wings. Who have, I really feel like they they allow God to use the hard times in their lives.
And it made me think of this quote from Charles Spurgeon. I'm going to read the second part of it. God knows that soldiers are only to be made in battle.
They are not to be grown in peaceful times. We may grow the stuff of which soldiers are made, but warriors are really educated by the smell of powder. in the midst of whizzing bullets and roaring cannonades, not in soft and peaceful times.
Well, Christian, may this not account for it all? Is not thy Lord bringing out thy graces and making them grow Is he not developing in you the qualities of the soldier by throwing you into the heat of battle? And should you not use every appliance to come off conqueror?
God wants to use the hard times and for us to allow his dunamis power to show up. But sometimes those hard times lead to the next challenge, which is a heavy burden. There are times those challenges really become something more, something next level, and it's a heavy burden.
2 Timothy 1. 12, which is why I suffer. as I do.
But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me. Those heavy burdens, Paul knew it, I for which I suffer. He wasn't sugarcoating what he was going through, but he was also pointing to the power of Jesus.
And this is just a quick follow-up on what Dad talked about with entrusting, because this word really stuck out to me here. I'm entrusting to you, Timothy. I am entrusting these words to you.
The Greek here means deposit or trust for safekeeping. And as I'm thinking of that, I seriously the only thing that came in my mind right away was a teller window, a bank teller window, you know, when we used to talk to humans and uh and go to a teller window. And we're we go there and if you it's like we're going to God's teller window and we're like, hey Here's my deposit, Lord.
Thanks for taking care of that. Hey, could I have that back real quick? I'm just gonna I just need it for today.
I just need to carry this with me today. Uh I don't know if you've got the You know what? No, you you got it, Lord.
Just uh hang on. Maybe I'll just take that back just for a little bit. We're back and forth.
We're back and forth with God as far as I'm depositing this. But I'm taking it back, which is why I love the connection that we can see to First Peter 5. 7 with entrusting casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.
I really appreciate what the uh Bible Hub app has to say about the Greek word for caste here, because I've heard it before, but I wanted to look it up again In Strong's Greek Concordance, the Bible Hub says it highlights a decisive, intentional act of shifting a burden from one place to another, figuratively or literally. so that the object no longer rests on the bearer. That is what God is saying when he's saying cast your care on me.
He is saying, I know you've been carrying this, but take it and throw it as far as you can away and throw it on me and don't ask for it back. He wants us to care about things. He wants us to care about people.
He doesn't want us to carry them. He wants us to let him carry them, realizing I am not the Messiah. He is.
We are underliving because of what we insist on controlling. And I've experienced that so many times in my life, and I still do, those times where I'm underliving because I think I can control it better. I love, that's why we get to love that Paul says, nevertheless.
He says, nevertheless. Those were that word there, trusting no matter what. Nevertheless, and here's where it really hits home for me, and I think for a lot of us.
Nevertheless, that trusting, that entrusting to the Lord is a lot easier when it's stuff. When it's earth stuff. It's hard to be go through financial crisis.
It's hard to go through medical times. Those are hard. But when nevertheless has a name attached to it, someone you love who has run from Jesus.
Someone you love who's never chosen Jesus to start with. Someone who has betrayed you. Someone who has hurt you That nevertheless becomes really hard.
I think the best physical example I have of this is we are our daughter's in her junior year of college. Dropping her off at college. There's a lot of strangers there.
I don't know those teachers. I don't know the president. I don't know who RA.
I don't know those guys. And all of a sudden, I have a choice to make. Not do I trust the college?
Not do I trust the RA. Or her roommate, do I trust the same God who has carried me through countless times of heavy burdens? So yes, we entrusted our daughter to the college and she thrives there, continues to thrive there.
And then I have to do it all over again with Caleb next year. But that's next year. So um The that's why in the blank there that you have to fill in that blank.
It's not up on the screen the answer to that blank. Are you able to say to God, He is able to guard whatever name you would put there? who I have entrusted to him.
That is the true test of nevertheless and the dunamous difference. Because the dunamis difference here is I can experience the peace of Christ when I truly trust. It doesn't mean we're fine with everything, but it does mean there's the peace of Christ because we trust God for the results.
So fill in that name. He is able to guard who? That person who I've entrusted to him.
The next challenge that we face is when we're feeling all alone. And boy Paul knew what it felt was like to feel alone. Let's look at a couple verses from 2 Timothy 4.
At my first offense, no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. All deserted me. If you've gone through a season of people hurting you, betraying you, that hits.
That hits when you read that. All deserted me. May not be charged against them But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.
Jesus is the dark times difference Someone is there when no one is there. I live that. For those who don't know, my Calling to Native America happened in 1992, graduated from high school, was going into college to study communications and going to Christian radio.
Don't know where I got that. But I was like, that's what I want to do. I'd experienced it through seeing dad do it and loved it.
And all of a sudden I led one 10-year-old Navajo young person to the Lord. Who came up and said, if I come to one of your events later this week, will you tell me more about Jesus? Simplest question that forever changed the course of my life.
Wrote back, went back, wrote a letter to God and said, Not my will, but yours, Lord. Not my plans. I know I'm supposed to be in Native America.
And so I knew my calling. I knew my calling. And I knew that God was going to be there.
And then the hard times hit. Then I went through a season of just feeling alone. It was actually after and and Sarah knows this, it's not a big surprise.
It w wasn't her fault. I when we we dated for a little bit and we broke up for about three years. And at the beginning of that three year period, when I'm on the reservation I felt so alone.
Doug and Anna were there. But I had to go back to that little travel trailer every night. I felt alone.
And so I'm like, well, do I need to take a break from ministry? Do I need to go find my wife? And God was like, I got that figured out.
And I was like, okay. So All of a sudden, I it was almost that audible voice of God as I'm sitting there in that quiet travel trailer. And he asked me a question that is resonates in my heart and mind to this day.
Am I not enough? The answer is yes, of course. You are enough, Lord.
You are enough. But to live that It changed my life. When Sarah and I got back together, it was a beautiful picture and to be able to spend my life with her, but The Lord would still be enough if he hadn't done that.
I believe that. Because he took me through a season of refining me there and saying. .
. Am I enough? And if so, what does that look like in your life?
Boy, that brought the peace of Christ This is especially important to remember when the loneliness has been caused because someone's hurt you It's easy to just harbor those feelings. It's easy to say, I will not forgive. Because they don't deserve it.
But look at what Paul said here. No one came to stand by me. May it not be charged against them.
Don't we want to say, go get them, Lord? They deserted me, smite them. But that is not what Paul says.
May it not be charged against them. How does he do that? Because of the dunamous difference.
that he experienced in his life to forgive and trust God. The dunamous difference is I can develop a deeper intimacy with my Lord, which is what happened to me when I found he was enough When I live in the reality of Emmanuel. And we're back to Christmas.
All right, Emmanuel. That's what we all think of. Emmanuel, God with us.
I got to teach on this at the Leadership Center recently, and it was another moment when I'm just working through this. Every time I spend time with thinking about Emmanuel and God with us, it's mind-blowing. He's always here.
He's always with me. I am never alone. So this isn't just a Christmas name for Jesus This is our life, Emmanuel, God with us.
And the great benefit of when we realize we are not alone and we can walk in that freedom and we know that God is enough for us. is we can help others because if you've been anywhere in the news or on social media The mental health struggles people are facing in today's world are real and they can be overwhelming and they can be disastrous and they need someone who has learned that God is enough. Not to give them platitudes, not to give them nice Christian quotes or a bumper sticker, but to say, I've been there.
I've been broken. I've been lonely. I felt alone.
And God is enough. You can help others and change the world. The last one, the last challenge here that we'll look at is when happily ever after seems impossible.
Happily ever after just seems completely out of reach and impossible 2 Timothy 4, a couple more verses there. So I was rescued from the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom.
To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Paul knew the time was short.
He had suffered. He had been abandoned. He had been mistreated.
He knew he was going to meet Jesus soon. I found myself thinking, what would be going through my mind if I knew time was running out? And I just wrote down, I know me, and I'm pretty sure I'd be thinking about the work that seemed unfinished, the mission to still be fulfilled.
I'd be thinking about Sarah and my kids. And all that I still wanted to say to them and experience with them. So what was the difference?
It's that Paul walked in the dunamis difference. I walk in greater freedom. This is the dunamis difference.
I walk in greater freedom and peace when I acknowledge that God's got this. May not be the right grammar, but I say it often. Because I need that reminder.
God 's got this. F. B. Meyer says it this way, all the tomorrows of our life have to pass through him before they can get to us. So when time is short, when the it seems like the happily ever after seems impossible, first of all, isn't it great that we serve a God of the impossible?
It was impossible that Lazarus was coming back. But was it? We serve the God of the impossible.
So even when we think it's impossible. . .
Maybe not so much. But even when things may not change, like Paul knew the end was coming, he was able to say, I know God's got this. So say it when you get up in the morning.
Say it loud next to your spouse in bed. They'd probably love that. It could be their snooze button.
Say it when the hard news comes Say it when the burdens get heavier. Say it when someone you love has turned away from Jesus. And don't just say it, believe it.
God's got this because he does. Paul's message to Timothy and to us is clear. Be dunamized.
I'm sure he said it. Be dunymized. 2 Timothy 2.
1 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus. The word there for the that that strength that we found is enunamao. So it's a little more than dunamis It's in Dunama 'o, and it's saying that the strength and power is there.
Now receive it. Walk in it. That's where our part comes in.
There's so many if-thens in the Bible where God's like, if you do this, I got it. I will give you this. It's ready.
Just Do what the simple things I'm asking. And so if we will acknowledge, Lord, I know you have the power and I have none and I need that. You then need to receive it.
And he is granting it to you. And he is giving that to you. And he is helping you walk in that.
in dunama 'o, in that dunamis power. So be dunamized. The familiar refrain of Paul's life You find in 2 Corinthians 12, 9 and 10.
I hope it's okay when outside of 2 Timothy. All right. 2 Corinthians 12, 9 and 10.
But he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then I am content with weaknesses, insults.
Hardships, persecutions, and calamities, for when I am weak, then I am strong. So for you Me, those we love my hardship is his grace. Weakness, his strength, my afflictions, his power Andrew Murray says it this way, we have a God who delights in impossibilities and who asks, is anything too hard for me?
When we lean into his dunamis power and we receive that and we walk in that, praise God. Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Let me pray.
Heavenly Father, thank you for your dunimous power, Lord. Thank you that you allow us to have access to that. Thank you that you trust us with it.
Thank you that we get to live that time and time again, Lord. We praise you that we get to see you show up in some amazing ways, things that I have seen in my life already that I should have never been able to see. Things that you have just shown up.
Yes, I see it through on the Eagle's wings time and time again, but I see it in my home. I see it in my heart. I see it in my family.
I see it in my marriage, Lord. I see it every day at Hutchcraft Ministries. Your Holy Spirit power.
Would we never sell that short? Would we walk in that dunamis power and would we be dunamized, Lord? We love you, Lord, and we give this to you in Jesus' name.
Amen.
