Our family was acting out the Christmas Story that Christmas Eve. Our daughter - Mary, oldest son in bathrobe - Joseph, youngest in laundry basket - Jesus, wife under sheepskin - sheep, me on the back couch - angel. Two girls from our youth ministry came to the door and they said, "Everyone's drunk at our house. It's crazy there!" They were in search of a safe place.

But aren't we all? In a world that's so harsh and lonely, we're the walking wounded, the broken, the fearful, the hopeless in search of one safe place for our heart. Jesus said, "Come to Me all you who are weary and heavily burdened and I will give you rest." Millions have, including me. We're safe!

Because as the Bible says, "Nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." It's a love that took Him to a cross to die for our sins, and a promise backed up by His resurrection.
