Has your controlled life suddenly become out of control? Maybe you were going through life's journey with things looking pretty good, and all of the sudden a major storm has come your way.

In Acts 9 from God's Word is a story about a goal-oriented high-achiever on his way to a major conquest. His name is Saul. This is a man who couldn't be stopped. He was the brightest young religious leader of his time, but deeply angered by the heresy of the new followers of a man named Jesus Christ. He is on his way to eliminate the problem. The man who never stopped was stopped suddenly. Verse 3 begins by saying this, "As Saul neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, 'Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?' 'Who are you, Lord?' Saul asked. 'I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting' he replied."

Maybe you're kind of like Saul. You've been running full speed. You've gotten a lot done. You're competent, gifted, doing pretty well, and moving too fast to think about getting right with your Creator. You've been running your own life, and suddenly there's been a heavy storm.

You might have been hit with something medical or financial. Maybe your family is in a crisis, someone you love is gone, you found yourself out of work or out of money, and maybe you're even out of hope. Whatever the storm, there is a reason it might be happening. Maybe it's the same reason it happened to Saul - so he would finally listen to the voice of Jesus.

This is the Jesus who created you, whom you've rebelled against as you've run your life your way and not His way. Jesus is the only one who loved you enough to die for you. He died to pay the death penalty for your sin that you deserve.

Jesus has been knocking gently on the door of your heart for a long time. You have always been on your way somewhere until now. The storm has stopped you so you could meet your Savior. He's calling your name today just like He did Saul's; that day Saul surrendered his life to the Son of God. This could be your Jesus-day. Maybe it's time to say, "Lord, I've run it long enough. I need a Savior from my sin. I'm yours, Jesus." This storm that seemed to be blowing you off course is really bringing you home.
