When God sent a baby that first Christmas, He picked His name very carefully. He told Mary and Joseph, "You shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins" (Matthew 1:21).
See, every time you say Jesus' name, you're speaking His mission. Because Jesus means "one who rescues." Because rescue was our only hope - of having our sins forgiven... of having a relationship with God... of ever going to heaven.
Because, as the Bible says, 'Your sins have separated you from your God" (Isaiah 59:2) Our sin - our hijacking of our life from our Creator - carries an eternal death penalty. No amount of doing good can pay it.
