One of my favorite Christmas movies is the story of George Bailey - "It's a Wonderful Life." I get the warm fuzzies every time he runs through the streets at the end, realizing the difference his life has made.

But that hopeful ending doesn't happen without the dark moment where George says, "I suppose it would have been better if I'd never been born at all." A feeling of hopelessness at Christmas, that too many feel. Maybe you.

It might be caused by the loss of a loved one, hard financial times, or pain of the past. But it doesn't have to define you - there is more to the story. Christmas brings good news if it's dark right now.

Two thousand years ago, God saw the need for light, and so He sent His Son - Jesus - to bring light that cuts through the deepest darkness. Grief, fear, loneliness, brokenness. Jesus doesn't automatically take all the hardship away, but He can give us His strength to make it through the tough times.

The Bible promises that "...those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength." Jesus brings hope! He loved you enough to die for you, and His love never fails.
