Breaking a bone on Christmas - bad idea! I did, throwing that new football with my sons. Result - broken finger and Christmas in the emergency room. It's like broken seems to hurt even more at Christmas. Especially, if it's broken at heart.

Maybe that's you this Christmas. Grieving over a life treasure lost. Like my wife. My lifetime love since I was 19, gone suddenly that day 3 years ago. While the world is singing joy to the world, you're grieving inside.

Well here's God's promise, "the Lord is close to the brokenhearted he saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). Jesus, who came that first Christmas, isn't a religion. He's a person who loves you very much. He was broken for our sin on a cross. The bible says he was "a man of sorrows, crushed for our sins." So when you give yourself to Jesus, the wall between you and God comes down. He moves in close to forgive, to comfort, and to heal.
