Nowadays you don't have to physically go to work anymore; people can work from home. Some people start out working outside the home and easily move to working from home by transferring their calls to their house.

This is called telecommuting. All you have to do is commute by telephone to get to work. Everyone can contact you at your business number, and they never know you are not in the office. Telecommuting is making it possible for all kinds of people with different situations to work from home. There's a lot people can accomplish right where they live.

In Exodus 17 of God's Word, it talks about the Jewish army being on a battlefield, fighting the savage Amalekites. Moses, who watches the scene from on top of a hill, is key to the victory. Verse 11 says "As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning." In verse 13 it says "Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword," so Moses was able to keep his arms up because two men helped him hold his arms up when they became tired. After the battle, "Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. He said, ‘For hands were lifted up to the throne of the Lord.'" He was praying when his hands were lifted.

Moses was too old to carry a sword into the battle. He wasn't really a soldier, but that didn't mean he couldn't do something to affect the battle. He went up on that hill and raised his hands in prayer to the Lord. In fact, the Israelites won only when he did that.

We could call prayer God's powerful version of telecommuting. Going into God's throne room and bringing our fellow believers there in prayer is the greatest gift we can give them. Go into the throne room and bring down God's power for a person. You can intercede for others on the front lines and play a decisive part in their battle.

Maybe you are restricted in some way in your ability to get out and teach, preach, witness, or organize, or maybe you feel you don't have an obvious ministry gift. Joshua was a great general, but his battlefield exploits did not determine the outcome of the war. The man praying on the hill did and that's a ministry no one can stop you from having. Prayer does not depend on health, gifts, charisma, money, or influence, and it happens to be the most important ministry of all. You may not feel as if you are doing anything, but you are neutralizing the forces of hell with the power of God.

When it comes to the work of God, you can do the most essential work without ever leaving home. Take your position with Moses of old on that hill of intercession. The warrior on the field will win as long as the prayer warrior is fighting in the throne room.
