Download MP3 (right click to save) It’s pretty exciting watching our five-year-old granddaughter playing her first games of soccer. We are already those like “nutso” family fans that I used to laugh at. Well, she’s good! I’m Ron Hutchcraft, and in a recent game, she reminded me of some important things about being a leader and living a life that matters. The other team was all guys and all bigger, but she got right in the middle of them, she was un-intimidated, and she kicked the ball away from them and on down the field. She was totally focused on her mission; a goal. She wasn’t focused on who or what stood in her way. But later, one of her teammates started falling backward, and suddenly she stopped and put her hands on his back to support him. Now there are two passions that drive a powerful leader; I saw it in the soccer game that day: target fixation and people priority. Relentlessly pursuing your goal, but never letting your goal be more important than people. The Bible says “Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). He was moving undeterred to His date with destiny—His crucifixion mission. But it says, “On His way to Jerusalem…ten men who had leprosy met Him” (Luke 17:11-12). And He took time with them and with other people who needed Him. See, He relentlessly pursued His mission, but He took time for the people who needed Him. That’s the kind of person who is going to make a mighty difference. Our whole website is designed to helping you be a make a difference person. I hope you’ll visit us there. It’s alifethatmatters.org, because God put you here to live a life that matters. This radio program references: Luke 9:51; 17:11-12 |
